I'm also interested in the economic policy divisions in the political
sphere that are suggested by the differing terminology.  For instance,
think about these congruencies:

  1. Copyright -- Republican
  2. Copyleft -- Democrat
  3. Copyfree -- I leave this as an exercise for the reader.

The dichotomy of "right" and "left" in politics matches up pretty well
with that in the terms "copyright" and "copyleft", in part because of the
distinct corporatist bent of copyright and the clear collectivist
implications of copyleft, as the policies of each bear out in practice.
The separation of copyfree from both of these sociopolitical impulses is
important to me, and I'm interested in what you (meaning "all of you")
think of that aspect of the use of the term (particularly those already
using the CCD CopyWrite license, of course, or intending to in the
foreseeable future).

By the way, the reason I have brought it up in this list but have not
mentioned it elsewhere (except verbally, in person) is simply that I am
considering the minor expense of registering copyfree.org for use in
creating a static advocacy site related to the principles of copyfree
licensing.  Probably the only changing content on the site, once reaching
a particular point of completeness, would be links to other, related
resources -- and I'd want to keep them limited in number and scope, I
think.

Anyway, I don't think it's a really excellent idea to start posting the
term "copyfree" all over the Web before I've decided whether to budget
for registering copyfree.org, if only to reduce the likelihood that
someone else will beat me to the punch.
